Cyprus - North and South Real Estate Developments
Within Cyprus real estate is divided across the Buffer Zone in Cyprus. If the barrier comes down what will happen.
The United Nations Buffer Zone in Cyprus is a demilitarised zone, patrolled by the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), that was established in 1964 and extended in 1974.
The northern area is controlled by the Turkish with the South being run by the Republic of Cyprus (southern Cyprus save for the British Sovereign Base Areas which is a British controlled area).
Southern Cyprus due to the location and past history, is very popular with vacationers from all over the world with the UK citizens being a high percentage of international overseas owners who have purchased property either standalone or with communities and resorts.
In the North property developments are very popular with Middle Easterners who lean towards Cyprus as a vacation spot that is relatively easy to access.
If the barrier is ever removed, it would be hoped that real estate developers could team together to share ideas, information and perhaps work together for the improvement of Cyprus as a whole.
